Hurricane Francis 2004
Hurricane Francis became one of the slowest moving hurricanes to hit Florida when it struck just north of Caloosa on 9/4/04. In fact for 4 hours Caloosa found itself inside the eye of the storm. The next day, the residents in Caloosa had a close up look at the destruction, which had previously not been seen in Caloosa on this scale. CERT mobilized immediately and set up their Command Center at the park and proceeded to go house to house to offer aid and assistance as well as assessing damage to the properties and utilities.
